Get a Younger Looking You with Botox

To smooth away the frown lines between the eyebrows that both men and women get in middle age, and for other facial wrinkles, Botox can be used under prescription. It is most often used in order to smooth out lines. This type of cosmetic improvement is used mostly by people who feel the lines on their forehead make them look tired or even angry.

Avoid this treatment if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of Botox. If there is an infection in the skin surrounding the area being injected, common sense dictates that you shouldn't go ahead. Before a treatment, tell your physician if you have any issues such as asthma that affect your breathing.

How does it work?

The skin's wrinkles normally form right next to a muscle that is close to it, and normally beneath it.The Botox restricts nerve impulses from reaching the tissue that causes the wrinkle. The skin supported by the muscle stops being creased by constant expression contractions by this limited or no muscle movement. Inhibited muscle contractions means that lines and wrinkles stop forming. As a result, with fewer wrinkles and frown lines the person has a more youthful look.

Using Botox injections for wrinkles is non invasive and the procedure is usually carried out in approximately 20-30 minutes. The site to be treated receives an injection of a small amount of Botox. As the Botox starts working, it blocks the nerve signals to the muscles under the skin. The muscle becomes relaxed and the skin smooths, which makes facial lines diminish.

The Botox Injection Treatment may leave the skin a bit red and sore, but this is usually very minor and will reduce after a few days. Usually on the same day, a patient can leave the clinic straight away and return to work. The treatment usually starts to work within 3 days, but it may take up to a week to maximize the full effect.

Post-Treatment

After your procedure, the first thing you need to do is try to exercise your treated muscles for one to two hours. You should practice squinting, frowning and raising your eyebrows. This will work the Botox into your muscles. If you forget or don't have the time to do it, it won't impact your results negatively, but it can help if you do do it.

Do not do yoga, heavy lifting or any type of strenuous exercise for four hours after the treatment, and take care to not rub or massage those areas that have been treated. And, after the procedure, don't take Advil, vitamin D, or Tylenol.

If, after the procedure, you see some tiny bumps or marks on your face, do not be concerned. They will disappear in a few hours.

If you decide to have a Botox treatment, make sure whoever is doing it is trained specifically in this procedure. These treatments are medical procedures and need to be viewed as such.
